Planting service

Our Karamea-based planting team can take care of the whole process, making it easy and cost-effective to get your plants in the ground and flourishing.

“Aesthetically it [the land] looks better and is more enjoyable to work with and [the riparian planting] will add value to it. It will help the waterway and aquatic life like trout, whitebait, cockabullies and eels, and it will stop fertiliser going into the creek.”

Geoff Volckmann, Little Wanganui

ABOUT US

Sustainable farms, healthy waterways…

Riparian planting has a host of benefits on farm, helping to stop erosion, shading out weed plants in fenced-off areas, and attracting beneficial insects such as pollinator bees. It’s also best practice for waterways, capturing sediment, nutrient and faecal pathogen run-off, and creating habitat for native fish, whitebait, birds and insects. Farmers who have done this work report healthier pasture, healthier stock, higher land prices and better marketing power in today’s environment-conscious climate.

SUPPORTING YOUR VISION...

As a community-led Incorporated Society with a charitable purpose, Clean Streams Karamea aims for results rather than profit. We offer subsidised rates to farmers and landowners doing riparian planting in our region, support community groups with planting projects on public land, and employ locals who love our special place.
